My child went to this hospital voluntarily for a short period in the recent past, was pleased that my child was going, as it was private and given the good reviews, as thought it would help.
Was wrong.
The experience, most bad, was eerily similar to the one star review above, mainly the same things we went through.
The main issues were the over-medication of my child without proper consultation, lack of engagement from the hospital at higher level and the way my child was treated.
The atmosphere on the ward was sometimes antagonistic and divisive, some inappropriate comments.
Treatments promised not always available or sometimes withdrawn at short notice - the main focus seemed to be on meds. Decisions as mentioned in the other review, sometimes arbitrary, and was often not consulted.
My child was not properly involved in their care plan, although they wanted to be.
There was quite a high staff turnover with agency/bank staff, working hard over long shifts.
Some staff were caring, helpful and supportive, doing a good job, but a small minority were not. Some poor quality restraint.
While the schooling helped, my child had a lot of free time and got bored and frustrated.
When my child was upset and distressed, some staff could have done more to talk and comfort.
.
Never had reason to complain about any hospital care before.
The reality of the service was offered here did not match the hype or the glossy online information. The good report from the regulator, relates to previous management and standards are different now.
Although this hospital is in a beautiful rural location, this did not make up for the lack of care.
Post-discharge, my child still had mental health issues and needed more care.
My child moved to a different place with resources that are much more suitable and is helped by those, who actually listen and support better.
My child is working hard for their health, has faith in themselves and is making good progress towards solid recovery, no thanks to this place.
"Poor experience, would not recommend"
