"A Visit to Louth Urgent Care Centre"

About: Louth Community Hospital / Urgent Care Centre (Louth Hospital)

(as the patient),

I recently hurt my wrist after falling over on a night out, yes silly I know! I was in a bit of pain and my wrist had started to become bruised & swollen so a colleague of mine recommend I go to Louth hospital over Grimsby (my home town) as she said I'd get seen a lot quicker, and she wasn't wrong!

After initially reporting to the reception desk I was seen by a nurse within a few minutes. She had a quick chat with me, asked me a few questions etc before referring me for an x-ray. I waited around 10 minutes before being asked to report to the x-ray department. Again after initially reporting to the receptionist, I was called by the radiographer who took a number of x-rays of my wrist. I was asked to take a seat back in the waiting area whilst the x-rays were being processed. Within a few minutes I was asked to make my way back to the UCC. The nurse saw me almost immediately & informed me that I had unfortunately fractured one of the main bones in my wrist. She put a temporary cast on & I was sent on my way with all the relevant advice, information etc.

From arrival to leaving, less than an hour, I couldn't believe it!

I returned a week later as requested to have a more permanent cast put on & my second experience was equally as efficient as my first.

I cannot thank all the staff enough, everyone was so friendly & helpful, from the receptionist through to the consultant. I was made to feel welcome, like my care was all that mattered to them. The hospital seemed old in some respects but had such a lovely feel to it.

I was told by one of the nurses that the hospital is under threat of closing, I really hope this isn't the case as this would be devasting for the town, staff & people like myself who appreciate and value the level of care this hospital clearly has to offer!
