"Some exeriences have been okay ..."

About: Good Hope Hospital

What I liked

Some exeriences have been okay in overall sectors as A and E and Fothergill block (pregnancy) but have just as many equal bad experiences

What could be improved

Staff working, Waiting times, Parking facilities. On arrival you spend 10 minutes trying to find a parking space and waiting as to whether there are enough spaces which always either seems to be FULL or 5-10 spaces left no matter what the time. I was there for a 20-week ultrasound scan, i arrived 10 mins before my appointment to watch all other patients come in and leave fairly fast even those that had came in after us. After waiting an hour (with a full bladder mind you!) we was rushed in, compared to the last time the nurse explained everything that was going on this nurse seemed rude and like they could not be bothered...they just said we might not find out alot today surprise surprise after about 2 minutes no luck and was like oh we will have to book another appointment....just seemed like they didnt have the patience to wait and thought "i'll just rebook her" they also seemed to just be in so much of a rush...but after waiting one hour, full bladder, and taking time out of work i thought the treatment was disgusting. Afterwards we had another person who seemed to just be patronising....and that took up another hour to wait for them. I understand about waiting times...i am not stupid...but to be rushed in and out of the scan which took about 3 minutes max and then patronised for about 10 minutes (this nurse just seemed to wanna sit and take the time not talking to us or particularly doing anything) so overall i lost a day from work as its eaisier as you never know how long you will be in that waiting room for which varies 2-3 hours to be seen to lasts about 15 minutes most...I am extremley disgusted as now i have to return because they could not be bothered....of course the baby is not going to adjust position in a 2-3 min time space...another person we had encouraged the baby to move explained the size...and was very attentive.

Anything else?

I think this hospital is very hit and miss! You can have a wonderful appointment one time...and then be treated poorly the next time...or they will be quite harsh with you then turn and change their attitude. I am dreading the day i will be giving birth all i can hope for (as i try to do for every appointment) is that i will get a nurse who actually gives a damn about their job!
