"Amazing care"

About: Goring Hall Hospital

Having recently been diagnosed by my gp with gynaecological problems I decided to avoid the lengthy NHS waiting period and made an appointment to see a consultant at Goring Hall. From the moment I arrived I was treated as an individual, not just another patient and this continued throughout my contact with the hospital and its staff.

After my initial consultation which was handled by my consultant with respect, care and sensitivity I was recommend a hysterectomy combined with a repair of an anterior prolapse.

I was given all the facts to enable me to make an informed decision and surgery was arranged for 3 weeks later. In the meantime I was given a clear and exact price for the procedure, hospital stay and follow up appointments. BMI healthcare have a 'credit card' which my husband applied for which has enabled us to pay over 12 months interest free which helped us a lot.

Prior to my hospital admission I was sent a number of forms to complete together with all the information I would need concerning both the operation and my stay at the hospital.

5 days before, I had all the necessary pre-operation checks and went in for surgery as scheduled.

My time as an inpatient was a very positive experience and every member of staff from my consultant to the cleaner were professional, friendly, caring and efficient. The operation itself went well and the aftercare was amazing, nothing was too much trouble for anyone. The nursing staff were really on the ball and did everything in their power to make my stay as comfortable and pain free as possible. My room was spotless and my bed was changed every morning of my 3 night stay. The food and catering staff were amazing, more like being in a hotel than a hospital and good food is very important when you are healing. There are no strict visiting hours so it was easy for my husband to visit me around running his own business. The wifi was very efficient so I could easily keep in touch with my friends and family. The view from my room was beautiful too, all these things help to make your stay as pleasant as it possibly can be and personally I think the calm surroundings only help with recovery.

My consultant visited me every day to check on my progress and answer any questions and the physiotherapist visited twice and spent ages answering the numerous questions I had and giving me advice about my return home and the do's and dont's for optimum recovery,

I was visited by the pharmacist before I was discharged and they went through all the medications I would be taking home to make sure I understood what each one was for and it's dosage etc.

Today I returned for my 6 week check up and my consultant is very pleased with my progress, I still have a way to go for full recovery but it was major surgery but I feel well and happy and very glad that I chose Goring Hall for my treatment.

I can honestly say that I couldn't fault a single aspect of my treatment at Goring Hall and would not hesitate to recommend it.
