"Not being listened to"

About: New Victoria Hospital / Physiotherapy

(as the patient),

It was a few years ago

One of the Consultants has now left

I moved to another hospital before the Consultant left

I felt my condition deteriorated over the years I was with this department.

My condition was never stabilised

I felt as I wasn't within their tick boxes and I was outwith the norm

Between physios who have now left the Hospital and the Consultants who I feel  didn't believe me I endured 6 years of undiscribible pain

It was when I eventually got reffered to an Orthopedic Surgeon who believed in me

During 6 years of appoitments I came out of their less than 5 times without being upset

I ended up loosing my job that I loved which I don't think would have happened if I had seen a specialist straight away but I only saw one after 4 physios which was too late

I cannot believe the difference in care at another hospital

I am getting treated properly and I dont cry as im getting listened to

Dear Reni

Many thanks for contacting me.

I appreciate that this has been a difficult journey for you.

Listening to our patients and hearing about their experiences of care is extremely important to NHSGGC. We are committed to making sure that all of our patients are given the opportunity to tell us what was good about their time in our care, as well as what we could do better. It is also important that we learn from these experiences, and use them to deliver the best possible care for our patients. Please be assured that I have shared your post with Senior Staff.

I hope that sharing your story will give you some closure.

Kind Regards

Nicole
