What I liked
The friendliness of the staff
What could be improved
The providing of food in A&E and the Assesment ward. We cannot fault the staff ,they were lovely but so busy ...poor girls were rushed of their feet but always spoke so lovely to our Mum who was a bit nervous about being in hospital for the first time in her life.My 93 year old Mum went in at 11.30 am and had nothing to eat till I asked about it , a helpful receptionist did her some toast mid afternoon which I think had to be hidden from other hungry patients. I was concerned that Mum lay in the corridor ,cubicle then back to the corridor till 7pm not examined by a doctor till 10 pm in the Assesment ward where again I asked about food and was told that they did not have a kitchen, in the assesment ward but in the end a protein drink was given at 8.30pm...so sad .
Anything else?
Mum was from the old school so did not take to men washing her which happened twice she bore this with as much dignity she could manage ,never complained but I felt so sorry for her and that this happened to such a sweet old lady,I cannot get to terms with this sadness she felt and now it is too late to cuddle her better.
Sadly she passed away during her 3rd night iin Good Hope so sad her final days where spent away from us but i must say the staff were lovely.
