My mother needed to have injections for blood thinners after release from hospital, firstly we were told that they could not come for the first five days, so we, her daughters stayed with her and administered them at first, then on the sixth day we got a nurse who was bad tempered, asking for notes and prescriptions which were already given to the GP who requested them, and challenging who had given injections up till now, when I said it was me, she told me to do it again. She was also there to change a leg bandage and do a sitting and standing blood pressure. She seemed unaware that she needed to do these things, she just did a sitting BP, and eventually agreed to bandage the leg but did it so tight it had to be redone when she had gone.
The next day another nurse came who did the injection but also seemed unaware of the other two things and said she did not have a blood pressure machine with her, so that was not done
The third night no one came at all, and no one phoned, I have tried to get through to find out why and there is no reply.
These things need to be done EVERY DAY for some time, my mum is nearly 90, we have been here now for a month trying to sort everything out for her, and as we live in a different country will not be able to pop over and sort things out every time someone from the DN service lets her down, .
Surely there are standards that need to be maintained.
