About: Spire Cheshire Hospital

What I liked

Greeted at reception by pleasant receptionist, taken to room in order of arrival, clean and no waiting, as I was first on the list, they were actually waiting on me getting theatre gown on, so no time to think about things. Made to feel comfortable by friendly theatre staff, and well looked after in recovery. Food supplied as promised, one of the nurses, came on when my pain level was at its worst and within minutes she had worked out what I already had and what would be best for me. I was made comfortable and pain controlled speedily and was consulted in the choice.

What could be improved

I could not honestly make a negative comment about my surgery, stay, treatment and surroundings, it was a positive experience.

Anything else?

I travelled to this hospital from Northern Ireland on a contracted out NHS basis, and although I was told by my operating surgeon I would be reviewed in two weeks, in Northern Ireland to have sticthes removed, when my appointment came, it was actually running into 21days, a totally unacceptable time to have stitches insitu. I eventually managed after many frustrating phone calls to secure an earlier outpatient appointment at my local hospital to have stitches removed as agreed with the consultant, I wait with baited breath to see how subsequent appointments go- but still remain grateful for the surgery to have been done where it was. I am now back in the hands of the NHS, the rest is up to them.......
