"Ward 105"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital

I reported to Ward 105 for surgery on March 20th 2017 (Nissen Fundoplication). The reception staff were fantastic, pleasant and very helpful, By 08:00 hrs I was at my bedside being admitted and having a full set of observations. This process was made slick by my hour spent in pre- admissions 10 days prior. I had spoken with my consultant by 09:00hrs and was given an approximate time of my surgery, and further advised that I would be staying overnight.

I was collected for theatre on time and taken in to the anaesthetic room were I enjoyed good humour and reassurance by the anaesthetist. I woke up in recovery, i was pain free, and was advised all went well. I was taken back to Ward 105 for my overnight stay. I was visited by my Consultant who was pleased with the way my surgery went. I was pain free for several hours, and was given pain relief within a couple of minutes of asking.

I observed the general running of the ward, it was busy, getting patients ready for theatre and caring for those who had just returned. The Staff Nurses and HCPs were busy but very pleasant, professional and caring. The ward itself is constantly cleaned and looked immaculate and clinically clean. The admission to the ward to theatre process is slick, The staff are so professional.

I usually enjoy good health, my fitness level are good and I have never had Surgery before in my life. I was anxious and very nervous. I am a Nurse, the Ward Staff did not know this. The Royal Stoke University Hospital is fantastic, Ward 105 is awesome. I am more than impressed with the care I received, the best professional team ever, I am healing well and feeling great. Thank You Ward 105
