"Orthopaedic trauma surgery"

About: Sunderland Royal Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

I had original surgery in Carlisle as I was air lifted there. I attended the fracture clinic where the consultant sent me for an x-ray and a CT Scan. They were not happy with my xrays and explained they believed the surgery could be carried out again and be more successful.

I came into hospital on Thursday 6th April and was admitted to a ward. The Dr carried out my surgery, everyone from the anaethetist to the recovery nurse were all brilliant.

I was then taken back to D43 the staff on this ward were amazing. The people who really stood out for me were a nurse, such a loving and compassionate person and an absolute pleasure to watch nurse geriatrics. Nextly were two other nurses, even though it could get stressful they always had a smile on their faces.

The health care assistants do an amazing job and deserve more recognition. The night shift team were so so loving and it restored my faith in the NHS and in humanity as a whole.

The Drs who do the rounds are very very informative and patient care is second to none. Well done and keep up the amazing work.

The only thing I would say was there seems to be an imbalance in hierarchy and there needs to be more health care assistants so they are not stretched. One apprentice is amazing and does an amazing job and will go far I am sure.
