"Maternity care"

About: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital / Maternity

It's taken me forever to write this review but I made sure to come back as I do believe good reviews are forgotten about.

I had my son at QEH on the 6th April 2016 my midwife was phenomenal from start to finish. On arrival I was assisted by other professionals who monitored my contractions for about 2hrs before deciding to admit me, they quickly noticed I was struggling to breath in between contractions and the person held my hand and physically showed me what to do by having me copy them.

My labour was 22.5hrs and it was my first pregnancy and birth experience. The pain was excruciating but I felt very supported throughout the nurses and midwives explained everything before and as it was happening couldn't fault them one bit.

The nursing assistants were hilarious they were the only people that got me to crack a smile.

I just wish I could have been checked for dialation atleast 3 times within the time I was there but there but it was explained that frequent examinations increase the risk of infection and they didn't want to do things that were unnecessary at that time as I was progressing normally.

I am pregnant now and can't wait to go back and see the lovely staff at QEH.

Thank you for taking the time to post your comments about the care you received from our Maternity team a year ago. Time does go very quickly when you have a new baby, but I know that the team that cared for you during your labour and the birth of your son will be very pleased to hear your feedback. It appears that you received support from the whole team which meant a difficult birth went well for you. I am also pleased to hear that the team explained how your labour was progressing which gave you a greater insight to your experience especially as it was your first pregnancy. Congratulations on your current pregnancy and we look forward to welcoming you back to have your next baby with us.
