I had the opportunity to attend the HARP classes run by Ayrshire and Arran health board. As a person who was totally a stranger to exercise, I am amazed how the encouragement and help given by the staff has changed my attitude to getting fit. It is so reassuring to know that staff are there to assess you and can gauge when you are ready to progress to the next stage. Although not a prime reason for the classes, it is good to meet others who, like yourself, are taking advantage of this service. After the ten week block, you are given advice on local classes which would suit your needs. I am now a volunteer at the class.
