"It is a life saver"

About: Community mental health services / Recovery College

(as the patient),

I never heard of the Recovery College existed. Only when I received CBT, the therapist recommended a course at The Recovery College.

It gave me real 'hope' and I met like minded people and I felt supported.

I loved it because each course/session was co-delivered by a clinician and a peer trainer.

The peer trainers have had the life experience and I can relate to them knowing that they have the knowledge, experience and understanding.

I have found the environments of courses are friendly, caring and safe. The trainers make time to listen.

The help, dedication and knowledge which the Recovery College arm us, the students, with, is not provided elsewhere. It is a life saver. It is a good place to meet like minded people, and communicate with them, after being isolated for so long. It is a forum where you can be listened to without judgement.

Dear Bailey2,

My name is Claire Reid and I am the Engagement and Experience Co-ordinator with the Trust. Thank you for taking the time to post about our services.

I am pleased to read your comments about the Recovery College and that it has given you 'real hope' and you feel the courses are friendly, caring and safe. This is so encouraging to hear that service users, carers and friends are benefitting from the college.

I will pass on your kind comments to the staff at the Recovery college so they can read their impact on you and others that have attended their courses.

Best wishes

Claire
