"Its the first time I have been ..."

About: Sir Robert Peel Hospital

What I liked

Its the first time I have been to that Hospital and was taken back by the very high quality of service I recived. It was more like a hotel than a Hospital, and the staff went out of there way to be helpful.Shame they are taking services from this better than average Hospital. Tamworth needs a first class Hospital

What could be improved

Nothing as far as I could see, but that is based on only what I experenced. Why does it not have a A&E Dept for 74,000 people who live in Tamworth

Anything else?

Why are they closing services down at this Hospital In Tamworth and why do they want us to travel to Burton,.when there is not even a direct bus to Burton from Tamworth

Thank you for your feedback. We aim to provide high quality services for all our patients and the PCT is pleased to hear that your experience was so positive.

To make it clear though, NO services are being taken away, removed or reduced at Sir Robert Peel Hospital, Tamworth.

South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) Provider Services is currently appointing a new provider for a range of speciality services delivered at the hospital. This is following the notification from Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust that they wish to reduce the number of consultant sessions and clinics.

This change will not result in any alterations to, or reductions in the services being delivered at the hospital and patients will not see any change to the treatment you receive.

The care given to our patients is the key priority and the changes will be coordinated in a way that causes the least inconvenience and disruption to patients.

However, patients may have to see a different consultant from any new provider appointed such as Burton Hospital’s NHS Trust. This appointment will still be at Tamworth. Patients will only be expected to travel to Burton if they require an inpatient procedure following their first appointment.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact PCT’s Patient Advice and Liaison Service by telephoning (01543) 412929 or by emailing PALS@southstaffspct.nhs.uk
