My Mum has recently been discharged from this hospital after a five day stay due major surgery. I can only describe her experience as traumatising. Her consultant and anetheatist were both excellent, however the aftercare was completely unacceptable. Lack of basic care, not enough pain relief, no offer of the opportunity to have a shower, I had to help her with bed pans... she is completely traumatised by her experience. The complete lack of care and empathy when you are at you most vulnerable is horrendous. I should say that she was an NHS patient there. When offered the opportunity to go there over Solihull/Heartlands you of course say yes, sadly she very much felt a second class citizen . I should also say that she herself worked for the NHS as a Sister on a very busy and stressful ward for over 40 years, I think this is why she could not understand the lack of care given. Yes they were busy, but does that mean no basic care given? We will be making an official complaint... she went in feeling safe and confident in the care she would receive and was very let down.
"Very disappointing care"
