"The Hospital was very clean, parking ..."

About: benenden hospital

What I liked

The Hospital was very clean, parking was easy and the nurses very professional.

What could be improved

The consultant was very rude, had no social graces and did not put me at ease. Everything was rushed. My original appointment was in September and I was called by a secretary who informed me that the consultant had read the referral letter and that there was no need for a consultation and that I should report to Benenden Hospital the following week, fasted and ready to undergo an invasive investigation. The first time I met the consultant was the day of the procedure and it was clear he couldn't be bothered to explain anything, when I asked him a question before I signed the consent form he told me it was in the information leaflet which had been sent to me. I felt like running away I was so scared but I knew I needed the investigation so I just put up with being treated disrespectfully. Following the procedure I was handed some more leaflets by a nurse who informed me that the consultant would explain the results. Whilst I was standing up and in the middle of the recovery area the consultant told me my diagnosis, he told me I may need an operation and when I asked about it he told me to read the information leaflet. I was made to feel like a piece of meat, I have seen vets who a

are kinder to dumb animals. I feel completey traumatized by my experience and would not go back to see that consultant. The only thing I can thank him for is reaching a diagnosis. Perhaps he could read a leaflet on how to treat people with dignity and respect and then try and put it into practice.
