"I attended Queen Mary's for ..."

What I liked

I attended Queen Mary's for a colonoscopy yesterday, and was very worried as I'd previously had a bad experience with inadequate sedation.

The staff in the Day Care centre were extremely understanding and reassured me that there should be no pain, and were as good as their word. I experienced not the slightest discomfort - the whole procedure was performed quickly and expertly, and was totally pain-free. I shall be far more confident in the future if I need to go through this procedure again.

What could be improved

The final exit ramp in the drive out of the hospital is far too steep, and caused an enormous jolt to my car's suspension, even at 5mph. Although it is claimed to be within legal limits, I fear that the Trust will sooner or later face claims for damage to vehicles if something is not done about it.

Thank you for your kind comments. I've passed them on to our team at the Day Case Unit, who always enjoy receiving such positive feedback. I'm sorry that your otherwise excellent clinical procedure was let down by the final ramp on the way out of our car park.

After considering your comment and those from some of our other patients, we've decided that the ramp needs to be adjusted. Work will begin on the ramp over the next few weeks to ensure that vehicles can pass over it safely, while also retaining its use as a crossing point for wheelchair users.

If you would like an update on the progress of this work, you can contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on pals@wpct.nhs.uk or 0208 487 6322.
