Was admitted to day unit on 23/3/17 for elective laparoscopy. Laparoscopy was carried out and I was awoken in recovery with intense pain after numerous attempts to provide pain relief I was given morphine and put onto a drip and aneathatyst admitted me to ward 1 for an over night stay to help my pain. Nurses weren't happy with aneathatyst decision and complained to each other at my bedside stating I had only had a "laparoscopy". I went to ward 1 and was happy with my treatment until my cannulas came out during the night which meant no pain relief I was then left for 3 1/2 3hrs without pain relief til someone came to insert a new cannula. Come the next day I requested a urine sample as I hadn't been able to go to the toilet for 14hrs eventually I did a sample after asking numerous nurses numerous times which showed high count of white blood cell, I was then asked to do another to be sent off for testing. By dinner time a consultant came to see me in order to discharge me spoke to me without anyone with me in and i couldnt understand properly then was told i would be discharged. Saw pain management who couldn't offer me anything because I didn't live in the catchment area, saw pharmacist who prescribed pain relief for apparently 7days but only lasted 5days despite 2 taken every 4hrs. I was also told on leaving my urine sample results would be sent to gp, who I eventually spoke to on Wednesday 29/03 and hadn't received any results. I then rang the hospital and was out throu to the lab and told I couldn't request my results and had to get my gp to request them. I felt like I was taking up there time and wasn't worthy for the time I spent in the hospital apart from a few nurses and aneathatyst, I was sent home none the wiser because nothing was explained properly so that I could understand and now left with an infection awaiting results instead of it being dealt with and a course of antibiotics started in order to help recovery. I feel completely let down by the system I'm left in agony with no where to turn because I was just a number on a piece of paper.
