"When I have a problem, I speak to the chaplain"

About: Learning Disability and Autistic Spectrum Disorder Secure (Nottingham) / Rufford

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I believe in God and I believe that God has taken away my anxiety in the last week. I only started believing in God since being in hospital 5 years ago and whilst I’ve been here I think that God has watched over me.

I’ve also been able to control my anger in the last week & previously I wouldn’t have been able to.

Some staff help me with my spiritual life whilst others don’t. When I have a problem, I speak to the chaplain and the staff. The chaplain prays for me. He is friendly and kind to me.

I would like to be baptised as I think it would help me and would allow me to put some of my past behind me. I would also like to go to a local church because it will give me space to pray to God.

Thank you for your response. It is great to hear how your faith has impacted your care in hospital. You're interest in baptism is something we will come and visit to talk to you about. I would also encourage you to discuss your interest in visiting a local church in your ward round with your MDT.
