"My plan after St Andrew’s is to get on and live in supported living"

About: St Andrew's Healthcare

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

I came to SAH at the beginning of December with the suspected diagnosis of autism however I still haven’t had my ADOS assessment since being here which I need for my diagnosis.

I think that the food & cooking is good. I enjoy playing sport and doing projects.

There could be more activities and sessions. More staff would help when people are helping respond to incidents as the response can take a while to come.

My plan after St Andrew’s is to get on and live in supported living.

When I see the chaplain he plays music which helps me feel relaxed. I like to listen to a mix of music such as Lincoln Park, Disturbed & Marilyn Manson.

When I have my community leave I might go to church so I can listen to the music. I also like the architecture of churches and believe the gargoyles are a form of protection.

I would like to have some Christian music on CD so I can listen to it on the ward.

Thank you for sharing your story. It's good that you are making full use of all the available activities on offer within the hospital. I have contacted the modern matron and asked them to make a response in relation to your ADOS and there being more activities on the ward.

You mention that you would like to go to church once you have community leave and I would encourage you to discuss this with your ward link chaplain when they are on the ward. They will be able to help organise and arrange this for you along with discussing it with your MDT.
