"Dreadful appointment system"

About: Pathfields Medical Group

It is virtually impossible to get through to the surgery by phone.

Often, I have given up and had to drive to the surgery to get to speak to anyone.

It is also extremely difficult to get an appointment.

Unfortunately there are very few alternative surgeries in Plympton to choose from.

The medical care is very good ... just very difficult to actually get.

We're sorry you have had a bad experience contacting the surgery but I'm glad you rate the medical care highly!

We know that previously people have always felt they must phone first thing to get an appointment and if they had not got through by 9am everything would be gone.

This is no longer the case: You can ALWAYS get an appointment if you have a medical need.

If you cannot get through early in the morning try calling again after about 09:30 as the phones tend to quieten down at this time.

If you have a chronic medical problem and need a routine appointment you can book one in about 4 weeks time.

For anything more urgent you will be put on the duty doctor's triage list where we will get back to you on the same day.

Often we can resolve people's issues on the phone but if you do need to be seen we will book you an appointment:

If you have a medical need to be seen today we will always find an appointment for you.

If you're condition can wait a few days we will find you an appointment with the most suitable GP (usually this is the GP you see most often).

So if at first you don't get through please just call us back a little later in the day.
