"Treated quickly helped my recovery"

About: North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital The Royal Victoria Infirmary / General medicine

(as the patient),

In November, I woke up early one morning feeling poorly and vomiting, I was shivering and could not get warm. My husband said my lips were blue so he rang for an ambulance. Paramedics came and took my temperature which was 40.7. They said they needed to take me to NSECH as I was very poorly. Two lovely ladies took me into the hospital and handed me over to the A & E team who quickly assessed me and told me it was possible I had sepsis. One particular doctor called Lawrence was really lovely and arranged for me to have fluids through a drip and some lovely nurses kept doing my observations. I cannot remember everyones name but they were all excellent. After a few hours I was feeling worse and I got transferred to the RVI where I spent another 9 days in hospital.  I had a bit of a wait for an ambulance to go to RVI.

I could not fault NSECH staff they were all wonderful. I was seen and treated so quickly that I think it helped my recovery. I was a very poorly lady who is now back to work after Sepsis thanks to all the wonderful staff who helped me.

Dear Theresa12,

I was so pleased to read your review, thank you for sharing it with us. I am delighted that you got the care that you needed quickly and efficiently and to know that you describe our team as excellent and wonderful will really mean a lot to them. Thank you also for mentioning Lawrence specifically, I know he will be humbled to read about how he contributed so positively to your recovery. I am glad that you are feeling better and back to work again, I will be sure to pass on your kind words to our team in the Emergency Department.

Best wishes,

Jessica

Thank you for taking the time to post your review on NHS Choices. We hope that your stay in the RVI was as comfortable as possible and it is good to hear that you are recovering well from your sudden illness.
