"Incompetent receptionist"

About: Peterlee Community Hospital

I went to walk in to get a diagnosis and antibiotic prescription for tonsillitis on 12th march at 12.50,

I was in quite a lot of pain as well as having a high temperature and feeling weak and drowsy. I filled in the required form and handed it to reception and sat down to wait. The walk in was quite busy but after nearly two hours waiting and not even been seen by the triage nurse, I noticed a lot of people who came in considerably later than myself had been called into triage , seen by doctor and gone home. I went to reception to ask why I have not been seen yet and they checked the computer for my details, she then informed me that my details were not on the system. The receptionist apologised and said they'd put my name forward. I waited around ten more minutes and was called to triage, diagnosed and prescribed antibiotics for bacterial tonsillitis.

I am not blaming the receptionist that I complained to, or the treatment in triage, it was the incompetence of the receptionist that was working before 1pm as they were clearly thinking more about their shift change than the welfare of patients. I just wonder how long I would still be waiting if I had not got up to inquire about it.

I cannot fault the service I received once I got to see triage nurse.
