My daughter was admitted for and operation to have her salivary glands removed.
The operation went extremely well all be it was bigger than what we expected.
The problem I have was with the medication afterwards on ward 8a.
At 8 pm medication was requested for iv instead of oral this medication was an antibiotic which is supposed to be given at the correct times, after asking numerous times it was finally changed by a doctor at 11 pm, the first doctor that was consulted over the phone by staff said it was not their problem, obviously this doctor is in the wrong profession, after all a patients medication is what doctors are supposed to care about.
The following morning my daughters medication was due at 7.30 we finally got this at 10 am, and this was pain medication and antibiotics, not quite sure why a child should sit in pain whilst waiting for staff to decide who is going on a break first.
On discharge there was no advice given about wound care or anything, just told to come back if problems occur.
Most disorganised ward I have ever come across in many years.
"Waiting times for medication an absolute disgrace."
