"I waited a long time with a severe dislocation"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as the patient),

I suffered a severe knee dislocation whilst home alone with two small children. The Pain was excruciating and I could not move. I have to wait 1 hour and 15 mins for the ambulance crew to arrive. I cannot fault the two paramedics but I find it appalling that I was left with such a severe injury for such a long time. Even the paramedics said that the reduction was much harder to do because the knee had been so severely dislocated for such a long time, making ligament and muscle damage more likely.

I am sorry that there was a delay in an ambulance attending you, but I am pleased that the care you received was of such a high standard.

The detail you have provided here has been anonymised, so I am unable to locate the details of the 999 call and susequent ambulance attendance, so I cannot directly comment on the event.
