"Thank you from the bottom of my heart"

About: Hereford County Hospital

Dear Sir/Madam

It saddens me that there are people out there who are saying that they have not had good experiences with Hereford County Hospital. Myself, and my children, have only ever had phenomenal care and support from Hereford County Hospital.

All staff within the NHS are incredibly compassionate, professional &caring, far too many names to mention, I will be forever in their debt for saving my sons life (who is now nearly 3) He has rare Congenital Heart Disease and Chronic Lung Disease.

He was born 7 weeks premature with Supraventricular Tachycardia (a major electrical fault in his heart), PDA, ASD, VSD (3 different holes in his heart).

He was in heart failure at the time of his emergency birth.

In the first half an hour of his little life he suffered a heart attack.

The NHS hospital where he was born did a miraculous and professional job of “keeping him alive” whilst waiting for an intensive care bed to become available in Leicester Heart Hospital.

Albeit that I was in “shock” all levels of clinical staff kept me fully aware of what was happening with my little boy.

Even having the details of having to give my son Cardio Version and a drug called Adenosine (which stops the heart so they can then reboot it).

After 15 hours at Hereford County Hospital he was then subsequently blue lighted to Leicester.

Although not long having had an emergency C section, I was also transferred to Leicester Hospital to be with my little boy. All of this Hereford County Hospital arranged for me.Whilst in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Glenfield, over the course of 3 months, my little boy battled with septicaemia, heart failure, chylothorax (needing chest drains), kidney failure (needing peritoneal dialysis), severe fluid retention (caused by the kidney failure) liver failure, a large blood clot in his jugular vein.

He also acquired chronic lung disease due to the fact he was on a ventilator for over 30 days (as he could not breathe by himself).

In fact my darling little boy was so close on three occasions to gaining his angel wings. I fought for him day and night and sat by his bedside holding his little hand. For a long period of time he had over 20 IV lines in his tiny body administering a variety of medication.

He had 2 heart operations, insertion of a temporary pacemaker as well as a procedure on his immature lungs.Miraculously, when he was nearly 5 months old we came home.

I gave him, and still do, many heart and lung medications as well as anticoagulant injections. It is likely he will have to have more heart surgery in the future.

All levels of the medical professionals involved in his care from then and to this day are incredible. The care and support myself and my 2 children get is outstanding in every way. Please let us give the NHS praise (lots of praise).

Hereford County Hospital, Leicester Glenfield Hospital and Birmingham Children's Hospital Hospital hold a very special place in my heart.

We sincerely thank them all x
