"easy access to get a parking space ..."

About: Good Hope Hospital

What I liked

easy access to get a parking space although the prices are high

What could be improved

communication with nurses and patients/relatives.

treatment of patients ie dignity, people skills need to be improved

Liasion with other Hospitals if having treatment

Anything else?

My mom was admitted to Hospital via her local gp, she has a terminal illness and was very frail and confused, I was told by moms GP that the Hospital would give her a drip and make her comfortable with the time she has left. After spending her 1st nite at Good Hope I was told via the phone that she was going to be discharged! without Good Hope knowing her full illness or having saw her complete notes.

She has now been in over one week, no treatment, she hasnt eaten in days I had to bring in my own soup and feed it to her which she did eat , she was allowed to wonder around the ward un-assisted causing her to have a fall today. When I went to visit tonight I couldnt find her, the other visitors had been in the ward for over 30 min and not saw her, she was the one shouting in the toilet obviously needing some help, the nurses didnt know where she was.

No offer of a drip, only 1 milkshake drink offered, I have brought 2 in from home and they are still there unopended, dirty washing just put in the locker not in a bag, and moms medication notes was mixed up with another patients, this is just a few of the issues I have raised, beleive me there is a few more.

I cannot believe that issues like this are still going on, I have to wonder when this ward got there "excellence carer award" that is displayed in the corridor.

Would I go to Good Hope not a chance, I never thought I would say this but give me Heartlands anytime.
