"My faith whilst in St Andrew's"

About: women's mental health (Spencer South Ward)

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

My faith has dropped whilst in St Andrew’s because I’m used to going to Pentecostal churches and I don’t get to go very often. Although the MDT said I could go once a month, I need to go once a week for my needs. I have been to the Chapel on a Sunday but it isn’t my style of worship as it isn’t lively enough.

Prayer & Praise is good and I enjoy it but again it is only once a month and I would prefer it to be once a week perhaps on a different day to a Sunday.

To keep my faith alive I listen to worship songs on my laptop. If the weather is good enough I like to go outside and sing them.

I think that the chaplaincy service could improve if there were more Pentecostal style services such as Prayer & Praise. It would be good to have a local church come in and play. I asked my local church to come in but they never responded.

I like the music of Godfrey Birtil and have seen him play at my home church. I invited him to come to St Andrew’s to play. He has now come several times to see us but sadly I’ve missed him a couple of those times. The chaplain brought him one time when I couldn’t get off the ward and he said to the chaplain if I couldn't get off the ward, he would go to the ward.

Music is really important to my faith. When Godfrey shared his testimony with us it helped me relate to him knowing how to stay strong in my faith and move on in life.
