What I liked
Everything. Was visiting the area on holiday and followed the road signs to "A & E" in Stroud when I developed chest pains (stupid of me because I should really have called an ambulance instead of driving round Stroud but "didn't like to bother anyone"!). When I arrived at the hospital I discovered there was no A & E but a minor injuries unit (not the hospital's fault I was misinformed by the road signs!). Half expecting to be sent away for attending an inappropriate department with chest pain I was relieved to find no long queues at the reception desk and the receptionist friendly, patient, efficient, kind and understanding. I was seen very quickly by a very kind nurse who dealt with me quickly, calmly and professionally, reassured me, did various tests, and I was then seen, again, very quickly by a very pleasant and capable doctor who was patient and, I felt, listened to me. (not something all doctors do, unfortunately!) At all times I was dealt with in a kind, reassuring, courteous and respectful manner, and all plans for my treatment and care were discussed and explained. The doctor decided that I needed to be transferred to Gloucester for further investigations and/or treatment and the ambulance arrived within minutes. I was very grateful to the nurse for organising the welfare of my car which I had left in the hospital car park and to the porters for keeping an eye on my car until I was able to collect her again after my equally excellent care from the ambulance service and the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. All of the areas that I saw at Stroud were spotlessly clean and all staff appeared polite, kind and competent. Almost a pleasure to be ill there!
What could be improved
Nothing at all. Everything was excellent.
