About: The Maidstone Hospital / Accident and emergency

I was up at a&e from 10 pm till 3 am! I was post op with post op bleeding internally. I went to Maidstone as it was the closest, I made them aware I had a hematoma and was told if the bruising gets worse I am to go straight to hospital, I also told reception the pain was unbearable, and the fact I had a lot of blood in my urine.

I was made to sit and was for over an hour to see triage in which I got some morphine for pain and then told to wait for my name to be called for blood to be taken.

That was when I waited till 2 am, I constantly was asking if someone was going to take my blood because it was getting unbearable, eventually a doctor called my name and asked what my blood results were, when I hadn't had them taken!

They then took them and put me on I.V and left to lay down, I was told I was getting emergency ultrasound so waited for that. After my blood results came back they told me my results and said my clotting was too high and told me to go home!!!

After asking about the ultrasound, they said I will get an appointment in a few days!

I left in agony and tears and went straight to tunbridge wells hospital, and within 15 minutes was in a bed, had an ultrasound and taken to a ward ready for surgery to get a huge hematoma drained and excess blood in my abdomen, I'm now left with a catheter, and a 2 drains to drain the internal bleeding!

So all in all, if you can get to tunbridge wells hospital get there!!!

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience when attending Maidstone Hospital. We were sorry to learn that you had such a long wait to be seen and that the standard of service you received fell below expectations.

We note that you subsequently attended Tunbridge Wells Hospital and are pleased that this was a more satisfactory experience for you.

We have shared your feedback with the senior management team for their consideration, but if you would like to discuss this further, please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01622 224960 or at mtw-tr.palsoffice@nhs.net, where a member of the team will be happy to help.

Kind regards, The PALS Team.
