"Fantastic care from admission to discharge"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Plastic Surgery & Burns

(as the patient),

I attended the emergency department recently feeling unwell, with a swollen hand and flu type symptoms after a dog bite whilst playing with my pet. I was quickly triaged and sent to wait at the minor injuries waiting area. I was then seen, assessed, x-rated and advised that I required inpatient treatment and was quickly moved to Ward 214 at ARI. Admission to the ward was quick and stress free and treatment with IV antibiotics began within an hour. I became more unwell during the night and was given reassurances by the nursing staff who were very kind and caring.

I remained in Ward 214 for five days and during this period each member of staff I met demonstrated high levels of compassion and professionalism. I was in theatre twice during this period and despite feeling unwell, I was kept informed about everything that was happening and the treatment plan.

My treatment went as expected and I was discharged today and am now at home. I cannot praise the staff at ARI enough, especially those on Ward 214 and the plastic surgery team.

From admission to discharge every member of staff I met was lovely and attentive and helped make my hospital stay an enjoyable one.

Dear Samh65

Many thanks for your feedback regarding your treatment and care during your recent admission to hospital. It sounds like you suffered a significant injury but I'm very pleased to hear that your received the appropriate treatment in a timely manner and that you were given reassurance and kept informed at all stages of your stay.

I am delighted that the staff were attentive and will definitely share your appreciation of the care you received with the teams involved.

Glad you are now at home and hopefully your wounds are healing well.

Take care

With kind regards

Fiona Robertson Chief Nurse
