I originally moved in to this property with the understanding that I would only be there for 4-6 months as my mental health was of minimal concern and that they would help support me in reducing my drug addiction during that time. The first two months started off ok until I was fully settled in. After that point I was beginning to get treated like garbage from many of the staff and so were a lot of the other patients there. in the end it took almost 2 years before they would even bother starting to look at moving me on.
Just some of the issues I ended up dealing with there:-
1) was suppose to have a reviews with parents and staff at the house every 3 weeks to go over my care plan and what was going on with housing. how ever the meeting were almost always changed about or cancelled at the last second. And if there was a review it would always ended up about something else that had no relevance to my own care program.
2) the support for things a little as help with cooking or washing never happened. you could go ask a staff member to help, they would say its fine. then never show up.
3) Any complains that were made were never taken seriously.
4) the Smoking rules became a joke. originally it was just to smoke out doors which was fine, then it became only within a certain part which again was fine other than for some patients who were unable to walk there each time. eventually it became that you could only smoke outside the gates of the property. which was unfair to so many of the patients as some were not aloud to leave the property on there own and the staff refused to take them out. And the ones that were able to go out were not aloud to go out before 10am or after 9pm
5) back to my previous remark, even the patients that were not under sections or restrictions (including myself) were still refused to go out many times and without being told why. this has caused me to miss things like opticians, food shopping, drug support groups(one of the main things the staff were suppose to help support me with) birthdays and even a funeral.
I could go on about all the issues you would likely face in this service and how rude and two face most of the staff are here but I would be writing all day and night.
The bottom line is that I would not advice anybody to go here in anyway shape or form. and i'm surprised that this particular location hasn't been Checked over or reported for its abuse towards its patients.
