"Knee replacement"

About: King's Mill Hospital / General surgery

My wife came into Kingsmill Hospital on the 9th of March she was scheduled for a full knee operation, The morning of the procedure we saw the surgeon who was going to operate they put a mark on the wife's leg that was to be operated and then said to her you are going to be fine,(words of encouragement) We sat waiting for the anesthetic person coming to see us, they apologized and said they really had not had the time to read through the wife's notes..When they were looking at the notes they said they wished they had seen us earlier as they thought that my Wife needed a special bed (she was booked in on ward 11) they seemed to think the operation would not go well because my wife was supposed to have had an heart attack 16 years ago, she was also told 25 years ago if she did not give up smoking she could end up with emphysema. she does use two inhalers but takes them has a matter of course, They asked us how far could she walk without getting breathless, i have not heard her get out of breath having been married to her for 58 years, the reason they can not test this has she can not walk her knees both needed replacing. They said my wife could end up on a life support machine, and also the knee might not work for her and she could be in more pain than she is now, they then said they were going in search of a bed and for us to make up our minds about the operation, after being told about everything going wrong how could we put our trust in someone who had given up before they started, when they came back we said we did not want to go ahead and they said we had made the right decision. We had a letter today to say we are off the waiting list and we are now in limbo still full of pain and not able to walk she has had injections in her knees but they do not work so just what can she have to help her, she is on pain patches and has epidurals and trigger spot injections in her shoulders has someone got an answer for her please.
