The estimated time on the Vascular ward was to be between seven to ten days.
On arrival the ward staff put me at ease for the following days' operation. Day of the surgery the anaesthetist popped onto the ward and having checked any current health issues and concerns that I had, we then discussed what music I preferred to listen to. I was at total ease throughout the operation on my right femoral artery. During the recovery I was continuously monitored. Due to the diligence of the ward staff realising I had a major bleed from my leg which resulted in an emergency operation.
Unfortunately the first operation was not a success and a second planed some five days later. Again this was not successful and a third is planed within ten weeks.
Regardless of my plight above, The Vascular teams, the staff of H.D.U. and Ward staff of Firth 2 must be commended for providing outstanding nursing to me during my twenty-one day stay in hospital..
