My Mum was rushed to A&E late September where it was discovered she had Sepsis. The consultants in Resuscitation were extremely swift in administering medication to save her life before admitting her into ITU/High Dependency unit where she spent one night. Everything moved smoothly between the two departments, her care package was explained to us in detail by one of the lovely intensive care nurses and despite it being a very scary time for us we felt reassured that the staff in ITU would look after her.
The following day she was well enough to be taken to Ward 5 where she spent a further 3 months suffering from various chronic medical conditions including a Pulmonary Embolism which, had it not been treated swiftly by the doctors and nurses, could have proven fatal but she recovered well and quickly from that for which we are eternally grateful.
All the nurses, junior doctors and consultants we encountered on Ward 5 were extremely professional, caring and friendly throughout her lengthy stay. Thank you to everyone who helped nurse her back to health, we are very grateful that this hospital is on our doorstep.
"Ward 5 - 5 Star!"
