I was referred for plastic surgery breast reconstruction following treatment for breast cancer in 2013.
Throughout the process I have been impressed by the holistic care I received.
At all times I was treated as a person, not as a case.
I had good opportunity to talk through my feelings and anxieties about having a mastectomy and reconstruction.
The pre-operation information was thorough and detailed, so there were no unexpected situations or decisions to make.
I was reassured on the morning of the operation being spoken to by the team carrying out the procedure, and have never been so well-briefed by an anaesthesist and I remember going to sleep as they talked to me about our labradors!
The aftercare on Gate 33a was excellent.
All staff were professional, kind and caring.
I could not have been better looked after.
The Breast Reconstruction team are so caring and friendly, and encouraging. I cannot praise the ward, the hospital and the medical staff highly enough, and would recommend the service to anyone who is in the position of considering breast reconstruction.
