"urology case"

About: Basildon University Hospital / Urology

From the outset of my consultation with the consultant i did not feel comfortable due their attitude shown towards me. I thought that the consultant had a very busy day at the time and consequently, they had very little time to examine me thoroughly and give their full attention to my case. But, my belief of this was wrong. About nearly eighteen months after my case was being monitored by one of the nurses of the urology department, i was referred back to the same consultant who was seeing my case for further consultation as there was no improvement on my urology problem.

Following this referral i had three appointments to see the consultant. On the first appointment i had to wait more than an hour of the given time only to be seen by another consultant. This was not a problem for me as i understood that a patient can be seen by another consultant if the consultant on the case is engaged in high priority cases. On the second appointment i was seen by the consultant who had been looking after my case from the beginning. On this occasion when i explained to them about the pain and discomfort i was experiencing they bluntly replied that they could not help me at the time instead of assuring me. I felt terribly bad about this, but i did not show my emotion. At the end of the consultation which was very quick i left the room quietly.

On the final consultation day i was told by the consultant that my medical case warranted surgery and briefly mentioned about one side effect of the surgery. But, they did not tell me in full what kind of surgery was going to be performed on me and its full side effects. It was only after when i asked them they told me the type of surgery. They did not elaborate more on the surgery which every patients would be anxious to know from their doctors. Interestingly, on my medical report for the surgery they were going to perform on me they have written that i was explained about the surgery in full.

I can't imagine why i have been treated like this. On the other hand I can hear them talk with other patients, who were being seeing before me, very normally and laughing with them.
