"Wonderful team"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Booked in for an aspiration of the right hip prosthetic prior to the first stage of a hip revision in April.

I arrived to the Day Case Department well on time and received a warm and friendly welcome from the Receptionist.

After a relatively short wait was was called to another room where Nurse Simon and a Lincoln Uni Student Nurse did the necessary paperwork, took my blood pressure, weighed me, did MRSA swabs etc. As ever, they were both lovely - warm, friendly and reassuring. As it happens, I remembered Simon from a previous hospital visit. Smashing chap and an excellent nurse.

Then on to the theatre where the surgeon and his team dealt with me with good humour and compassion. I managed to avoid swearing for once but the procedure was painful and did make me yell a couple of times. However the lovely nurse by my side literally held my hand a kept me calm. My body, as ever, was pretty unwilling to give up any gunk to be tested but I think the doctor managed to squeeze a little out of me! To a man and woman the team was wonderful and I cannot thank them enough for their skill and kindness to this overweight geriatric.

On then to recovery, getting dressed and downing an excellent mug of NHS builder's tea with accompanying biscuits!

The County Hospital Staff at all levels could not have made the experience any better. Thy were all magnificent.
