I was admitted to A&E late afternoon of 15.02.17 suffering with severe chest pains. I was given immediate attention, with an ECG and bloods were taken. Shortly after this I was given a bed in A&E Dept. A chest x-ray followed. During this time all the staff dealt with me in a most professional and caring way, reassuring me at all stages by explanation of what was being done.
ECG result and continuing pain determined that I would be moved into MAU Thrushell Ward for further observation overnight.. Initial blood tests confirmed that there had been no heart event, but a raised white blood cell count indicated an infection,
More bloods were taken to refine this indication and both student & junior doctors kept me fully informed of progress. It transpired that I had a lower respiratory tract infection & pleurisy, for which antibiotics were prescribed. I was made comfortable overnight, and released the following day.
My sincere thanks to all personnel involved in my short treatment, including the unseen support from the laboratory.
A first class service, especially given the more pressing regular demands made upon this hospital.
"Excellent Care"
