"Fantastic hospital- can't thank you enough"

I landed in the Whittington by accident, when my two week old hip replacement dislocated, and it was the nearest A&E. I don't live in the area, and having heard stories of the long waits and chaos in some London A and E depts, and being in excruciating pain, I was very frightened. But from the paramedics who lifted me out of the car to the nurses and doctors in A & E, everyone looked after me quickly, kindly and efficiently. Thank you particularly to paramedics.

I ended up having to stay at the Whittington for ten days, and have my surgery redone there. For the whole time, I was cared for extremely well, and I feel very lucky that by pure chance, this was where I ended up. The staff on Thorogood Ward were caring, compassionate and very good at their jobs. The doctors were also excellent, and I'm extremely grateful to the surgeon and their team for redoing my operation.

I'd recommend the Whittington to anyone. It feels big enough for patients to feel confident that everyone knows what they're doing, and you're getting the benefit of the latest techniques and knowledge, but at the same time, it's small enough to be friendly and keep a personal touch that makes all the difference to the patient experience, if you live in the area, you're very lucky to have this hospital on your doorstep.
