"My stay on nelson ward may 2016"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Cardiology

First of all my apologies for taking so long to write this review, it should have been done a lot earlier but after everything I have been through this was not top of my priority list at the time.

Now I must express my deepest thanks to all the staff on Nelson Ward during my stay, especially the Staff Nurse/Sister, I am not sure.

I single them out as they looked after me on a lot of occasions but that is not to ignore all the staff who were on this ward, they were first class.

I was taken in to hospital on my return from holiday and it turned out I required a triple by pass.

I spent the next 3 weeks in this ward waiting my date to go to St Thomas for my operation.

You cannot begin to realise how hard that was and thanks to the professionalism and the kindness of all of these people from the cleaners, auxiliary nurses general nurses and the staff nurses my time on Nelson ward was made as comfortable as it could be.

My wife was always welcomed and the nurses always had a smile even when they were stretched to the limit.

After my op at St Thomas I was discharged, now I know with pneumonia and pleurisy.

After my discharged within 3 days I was back on Nelson ward and again I could not fault it. The Staff Nurse/Sister assured my wife they would have me up and running again and they did without anything being too much effort for them.

Some may say this is their job, but believe me having spent nearly 6 weeks in this ward they go above and beyond the call of duty.

Medway Hospital gets a lot of bad press and criticism, myself included in the past when there has been cause, but this time I must offer my heartfelt thanks to Nelson Ward and if possible I would like to know who I contact to make sure they are recognised for they way in which they run this ward and the way in which they treat patients.

They make everyone feel at ease and considering what a lot of us were in there for they also make you smile.

Well done Nelson Ward and many thanks for putting me on the road to recovery.

Top class.

Steven Wren, Gillingham.
