"Helpful Staff but Denied access off the Ward."

About: Broadmoor Hospital

(as the patient),

Much of my recent health care experience has been 1st class. Surrounded by helpful staff and access to the healing side of the psychiatric system which is attending to and nurturing the root cause/problem instead of just trying to make the symptoms which often causes further symptoms on its own. CBT, MBT, OT, Chaplaincy, Education, communications skills is all miles away from say being put on eye sight obs, when all movement is restricted sometimes to just one room.

Just this last month, I was denied access off the ward, refused access to a phone to call family or solicitor and had to be naked when changing with door open, patients passing by being observed and a light on all night. Not great for a good night and ensuring I suffered no stress.

Thank you for this posting. It sounds to me that your thoughts and opinion of your treatment in the hospital is generally positive or 1st class as you state in the posting. I am concerned in relation to the second part of your post. There are times when some of our patients need increased supportive observations to ensure their safety and I would always hope these observations are undertaken by staff in a professional manner that take into account both dignity and privacy issues. I am more than happy to meet with yourself and members of your team to resolve any issues that you feel may need addressing.
