"My mother's care during her lung cancer treatment"

About: John Eastwood Hospice (inpatient) King's Mill Hospital / Respiratory medicine Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Oncology

(as a carer),

Just like to say all district nurses were excellent apart from one district nurse who was reluctant to come out and give mother an injection.

Mum found them to be very caring and understanding, she felt they always had time to talk and listen which made it easier to accept people coming in and out of the house.

The hospice staff at John Eastwood were extremely kind and became a lifeline for mum.

Doctors receptionist team need to be more understanding and caring towards carers who are looking after terminally ill people. ( A smile would go a long way ).

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry if you feel any of our staff showed a lack of understanding or caring towards you, we would not wish this to be the experience of any carer or patient. Do please contact us if you would like to talk about any incidents or specific concerns you have. You can email QMCPET@nuh.nhs.uk.

Kind regards

Thank you for taking the time to share your experiences with us. I'm pleased that on the whole you found the district nurses very supportive to your Mum and yourself.

If you would like me to investigate why there was reluctance on the part of one member of staff to come out and give your Mum an injection I would be happy to do so - could you please contact our Patient Experience Team to give them further details, this will be dealt with in confidence. Their contact number is 01623 673849, or e-mail PET-HP@nottshc.nhs.uk

We always appreciate feedback and use it to continually improve the services we deliver for patients and their family.

Kind regards,
