"No empathy"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a friend),

I visited East Surrey Hospital last night with a friend who had fractured her hand. I felt that the nurse who saw to us was simply in a rush to get rid of us as quickly as possible. In my opinion they showed no empathy or interest in the injury and were told to take painkillers and go home. We have since seen our GP who has confirmed her hand is broken and needs further treatment, he has referred us to a different hospital.

Dear B17

I am sorry to hear of your poor experience; this is not the standard of care that we would wish to deliver to any of our patients. I am sorry.

If you would like us to review your friends attendance please contact jackie.thompson@sash.nhs.uk who can review the attendance.

kind regards

Nciola Shopland

Divisional Chief Nurse Medicine
