"Poor hygiene and medication safety"

About: Musgrove Park Hospital / Trauma & Orthopaedics

None of the staff gelled their hands when assessing my relative, despite a stocked hand gel bottle at end of the bed.

I was totally shocked that on 2 separated occasions registered professionals left medication on portable bedside tables with no professional in the bay.

One has to question did the right patient receive the right medication.

Both these practices left me feeilng very worried for the safety of my relative.

i had previously raised safety of medication with nursing staff.

Dear Janet

I was very sorry to read of the concerns you raised about your experiences on the trauma and orthopaedic ward when you were visiting your relative. We work hard in the Trust to maintain high standards of hygiene and medicines management and it is disappointing that was not your experience. If you would like to contact me so that I can ensure that this is discussed with the appropriate staff I would be happy to do that.

Kind regards

Laura
