Words Fail me as to how a hospital can discharge an 82 year old patient with advanced
Gangrene infection (around his anus) after they have supposedly been turning him daily to prevent bedsores, and then send out discharge notes that do not mention the problem. They must have known because thay had dressed the wound. We were only made aware of the Gangrene issue 2 days later when a district nurse came to visit. We have some photographs taken as proof.
Despite having serious discussion with the Matron of this ward about the conduct of their staff. Taking over 2 hours to get a catheter changes, and suggesting it was OK for my dad to wet the bed! So much for the patients dignity charter spread all over the walls!
Incidentaly, for all they were worth, the discharge notes were recieved 2 days after my dad had returned back home and guess what? there was no mention of Gangrene. Is this what KGH consider to be excellent End of Life Care?
