"A brilliant service from GP to ambulance to hospital"

About: East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance Lincoln County Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

After a few days putting up with mild chest pain occurring intermittently, I attended the Billinghay Medical Practice. Their practice nurse suspected angina and asked me to return at midday for blood tests and an ECG.

I attended as requested but the phlebotomist was unable to take my blood, trying several times before I partly fainted. This was the moment the heart attack really began. Ambulance was called and I was soon being transferred to Lincoln Cardiac Unit.

On arrival I was wheeled directly to the operating theatre and the procedure immediately began. After not very long at all, I had had an angiogram and angioplasty with a stent fitted in a major artery.

I was then taken to the CCU where I was monitored for some 24 hours after which I was moved to the main ward for another 24 hours before being allowed home.

I must say that I was very well cared for, well fed and always felt welcome on the ward. All in all a brilliant service from local surgery and ambulance through to hospital.

Update posted by Snapjack (the patient)

During my brief stay, I chatted to a few other patients (mostly worse off than me). They were all enthusiastic about their treatment.

Dear Snapjack

It's good to read about your experience.

As Julie has stated, patient feedback is always well received by our colleagues and I will make sure we include an extract of your praise in our staff e-magazine.

If you wish a more personal message to go to the ambulance colleagues involved in the response to your emergency, please send the date, time and location for the 999 call to emas.pals@emas.nhs.uk and our Patient Experience team will be able to identify those that played a part.

I do hope you continue to make a good recovery.

Kind regards

Melanie Wright, Deputy Director of Communications and Engagement
