"I don't feel listened to"

About: Wrexham Maelor Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

I have been seeing a doctor, and have really had nothing done about my enlarged prostate.

I had a camera into my bladder the latter part of 2016 and was told I needed part of my prostate and my bladder stones removing. I was given a date for a procedure but it was only for the bladder stones. I cancelled the operation as there was only a need to go in once and and carry out 2 procedures.

I had already been to see a consultant in Birmingham who was going to carry out the removal of the stones and reduce the size of my prostate. The doctor offered to carry out TURPs on my prostate and nothing else, but I refused as there were other procedures available with quicker recovery times and less problems.

I have had the procedure carried out using Green Light Laser. I had the operation on the Friday afternoon and discharged on the Saturday afternoon with no problems at all. I am so glad I went private as my consultant was first class.

I am in the very early stages of prostate cancer and have been told that I will not be seeing my doctor but will see the clinician. I do not have a lot of confidence in Wrexham.
