What could be improved
The Physio - I was told on my first visit to the fracture clinic on 16th April that i would be having physio arranged at 3 weeks (around the 7th may) and also help with the crutch i usually use in the broken arm. This came from the consultant orthopaedic surgeon. However, when i rung the physio at AVH, i was told i would have to wait until they "Triaged" (assessed) the urgency of the referral. Surely a Surgeon's request for physio at 3 weeks should not be questioned by a physio. The receptionist initially would not tell me how long this Triage may take and that i would just have to wait. With an immobile right arm - the one i use daily for everything including a crutch and a request by a surgeon for physio at 3 weeks - what more do the physio staff need to know. The lady who answered the phone had to be "pushed" to look into it for me. Initially i was told i would have to wait for the assessment but when i got her to check the letter had already gone out. Had i not have pushed the issue goodness knows how long i would have had to wait. The appointment i have been given will be 5 weeks after the break, not the 3 requested by the surgeon. In the meantime i am expected to just put up being unable to walk less distance than before and no excercise to do even though i have been told i need to get it mobile. And the Labour party say the NHS is working!
