What I liked

Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to experience what is good about this hospital.

What could be improved

1 - The care about patients' health instead of the care about the process.

2 - The attitude of the doctors towards patients

Basically, on last sunday (11/05/08), I went with a friend of mine who suffers from ulcerative colitis (close to Crohn's Disease) and experienced a "flare" of disease that day

She has been undergoing a treatment prescribed by one of the top French specialist of this disease since the very first diagnosis (4 years ago, she used to live in France at the time).

On this Sunday, her French doctor ask her for a blood test within the day and to stop all new treatments right away and untill the test's result.

So we went to the accident and emergency department. The only thing we have been told there is that "they would do the blood test under two conditions : (1) they would keep the results for them (2) they would be the only ones to decide about the treatment to prescribe". Explaining the situation has turned out useless. All of this leads me to the following :

1 - I understand the responsibility of a doctor while prescribing a treatment but he could have called the french doctor to ask for further details and decide together the best treatment. What's more, how could the emergency doctor think he would give a better treatment without any knowledge of the health's past of the patient (the fromer tests, the several and drugs that have been tried, the diseases progression...), even he had been the best doctor ever ?

2 - It does not seem to me that not giving the patient her blood results is respectfull of the patient rights.
